    Introduction

I am pleased to share a bit of my personal journey into the world of Tarot and its profound impact on my life. At the age of 15, I had the opportunity to study the teachings of the renowned psychologist Carl Jung, who explored the relationship between the unconscious and archetypal symbols found in various cultural manifestations. It was through his work that I discovered a fascinating connection between psychology and the Tarot.

From that moment, I immersed myself in the study of the Tarot cards and in understanding their deeper meaning. As I delved deeper into this discipline, I discovered that the images and symbols on the cards were archetypal representations of universal aspects of the human experience. Each card seemed to tell a unique story, packed with symbolism and meaning.

Over the years, the Tarot has become a valuable tool for exploring my own psyche and finding clarity in times of confusion or uncertainty. It has given me an avenue to access deeper layers of my being and understand the underlying patterns that influence my thoughts, emotions, and actions.

Over time, I realized that many people find in the Tarot a guide and support in navigating life's challenges. Therefore, I decided to create this guide, with the intention of helping those who already provide interpretations of the cards to remember the fundamental meanings and possible combinations. However, it is important to note that this guide does not contain images of the cards themselves, but rather is designed as support material synthesized from my personal experience and the archetypal nature of the cards.

The Tarot is a deep and powerful symbolic language, and each time I use it, I marvel at the richness and wisdom it can offer. I hope this guide will help you deepen your own Tarot journey and discover new insights and insights on your path to self-awareness and personal growth.

    To open a session

Perhaps the most important thing in Tarot practice, like any ritual-type practice, is the intention that is manifested through the word or invocation at the beginning of a session.

The intention, both of the participant and of the person doing the reading, sets the guidelines for the session itself. So, it is very important to make clear what the general intention of the spread is. It is also very important to mention the consciences that will participate in it.

    Intention

The intention is that authentic desire of the participating soul about what it hopes to obtain in the session. They are not wishes to fulfill, but needs of the heart in life situations. It is important to ask the participant about their true intention and guide them to understand that it is not something concrete or material that we ask for it to be fulfilled.

The suggested intention for the person doing the reading is always:

Achieve clarity and discernment for the highest benefit of (participant name) and the people and relationships involved.

    Permission

Part of the openness involves explicitly asking permission, both from the participant and from the tarot itself, to perform a reading on their behalf. This helps a lot to release any resistance in the process, both in the transmission and reception of information.

    • To do this, the person is asked to say their name out loud three times, holding their left hand on their heart and their right hand on the tarot deck.
    • Following this, the person doing the reading says, "Do I have your permission to do a tarot reading on your behalf?"

    Invocation

The invocation is a specific prayer that is recited at the beginning of a session. This prayer is a direct message to the conscious and subconscious minds of all the people who participate in the shooting in person.

Many people like to make prayers belonging to their respective religions or spiritual beliefs. There are people who invoke "God" through specific prayers or the "Universe" as an omnipresent force. Other people ask for assistance from specific beings through the tarot. Be that as it may, everyone can choose their invocation prayer to seal the intention and align the energy for the session.

Personally I use the following prayer, which I consider simple and very powerful, adapting to any situation or spiritual context:

With deep respect, humility and devotion, we invoke the presence of light and love into this space and into our hearts.

Elementals, sacred guardians of all directions: illuminate this mission with deep blessing.

May the wisdom of the Tarot reveal with clarity and compassion truths and paths to (Name of individual).

May peace and love be here and now for the highest benefit of the All and One.

Part 1: Understanding the Tarot Deck

The tarot deck is made up of 78 cards, divided into two main sections: the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. The arcana are a set of cards that make up the core of the tarot. The term "arcanum" comes from the Latin "arcanum", which means "secret" or "mystery". These cards are considered mysterious because they contain hidden wisdom and knowledge that transcends superficial comprehension.

Orientation of the Cards when Reading and Other Considerations

When taking tarot readings, the orientation of the cards can provide additional nuances and insights into interpretation. In this section, we will explore the different card orientations and discuss other important considerations when reading tarot.

Cards in Vertical Position: When a card is shown in its upright position, it signifies the traditional meaning associated with that card. It represents the inherent energy of the card, its qualities and influences as conceived by its symbolism and archetypal representation. Upright cards often convey positive or direct messages, providing guidance and clarity in reading.

reversed cards: Flipped cards, also known as upside down or face down cards, introduce a change in the energy of the card or a subtle alteration in its meaning. Reversed cards can indicate challenges, blocked energy, delays, or the need for internal reflection and adjustment. They invite the reader to consider the inverted qualities of the card and explore the potential lessons or insights it offers.

Reversed cards can suggest the opposite of the upright interpretation, or they can highlight a bleak aspect or imbalance associated with the card. Pay attention to intuitive insights: Trust your intuition when interpreting reversed cards. Consider the emotions, sensations, or messages that arise when you see a card in this orientation.

Be aware of the surrounding cards: Examine the cards around the flip card to gain a deeper understanding of its specific influence on your reading. The surrounding cards can provide context and shed light on how the invested energy manifests in the querent's life.

    Other considerations:

In addition to the upright and inverted positions, some readers incorporate additional techniques to enhance their interpretations. Here are some common techniques:

Elemental Dignities: Elemental dignities involve examining the elements associated with the cards in a layout. Each element (Fire, Water, Air, Earth) has its own qualities and interactions. By considering the elemental relationships between the cards, readers gain insights into the dynamics and influences at play.

Numerology: Numerology plays an important role in tarot. Each number has its own energy and symbolism. Readers can consider the numerological significance of the cards, such as number vibrations, correspondences, or patterns, to further their interpretations.

Card Combinations: Combining two or more cards together can create a combined meaning or story. Look for connections, contrasts or complementary messages between the cards to extract deeper insights. Pay attention to the flow and narrative that emerges when the cards are read together.

Remember that while card orientations and additional techniques can offer valuable insights, trust your intuition and connection to the cards above all else. Develop your own personal style and approach to tarot reading, keeping in mind that the cards are tools that facilitate your intuition and inner wisdom.

    Part 2: The Arcana

The arcana are divided into two main groups: the major arcana and the minor arcana. The major arcana consist of 22 cards numbered from 0 to 21, each representing an archetype or a significant stage in the human life journey. These cards often have powerful imagery and profound symbolism that capture the essential experiences and universal challenges we face.

On the other hand, the minor arcana are divided into four suits: cups, swords, wands, and golds (also known as cups, swords, wands, and pentacles). Each suit consists of 14 cards, ranging from ace to ten, and are supplemented by four court cards: the page, the knight, the queen, and the king. The minor arcana focus on more mundane aspects and represent the daily details and challenges of life.

The reason behind the naming of "arcana" lies in the esoteric and enigmatic nature of these cards. Throughout history, the arcana have been considered to hold deep secrets and hidden revelations that can only be understood by those who have the ability to interpret their symbolism and messages. These secrets transcend the conscious mind and connect us with an ancient and universal wisdom.

    Major Arcana

The Major Arcana consists of 22 cards numbered from 0 to 21. Each card represents a significant life lesson or archetype. Here is a brief summary of the Major Arcana cards and their meanings:

Part 3: Last Observations and Secrets of the Tarot

In our journey through the world of tarot, we have explored the basics, traditional meanings, and common interpretations of the cards. However, there are additional aspects and unknown secrets that deserve to be discovered. These latest observations allow us to go deeper into the practice of tarot, opening doors to a deeper understanding and a more intimate connection with the cards.

    intuition is key

While the traditional meanings and symbolism of the cards provide a solid foundation, it is essential to trust your intuition when reading tarot. Each individual has a personal connection to the cards and the ability to access intuitive insights that can offer insightful and unique interpretations. Your intuition is like an internal compass that guides you to the hidden truths and the most relevant messages for you and the client. As you immerse yourself in the world of tarot, learn to listen and trust your intuition as it can unlock meanings and revelations that go beyond conventional interpretations.

    Symbolism speaks volumes

Tarot cards are full of symbolism and each image is loaded with meaning. In addition to understanding the general concepts associated with each card, pay attention to the subtle details, colors, shapes, and objects depicted. These visuals can offer additional insights and layers of interpretation. For example, a small gesture or the position of a figure can convey a specific emotion or mood. As you delve into the symbolism of the tarot, you will discover that the images on the cards intertwine to tell rich and complex stories. Taking the time to observe and reflect on each detail can reveal deeper meanings and enrich your reading.

    card combinations

When you read tarot, the interactions between the cards within a spread can provide a deeper and more nuanced understanding. Notice how the cards relate to each other and how they influence their mutual meaning. Some cards can complement each other, strengthening and confirming your mutual messages. Others can be contrasted, pointing out contradictions or tensions in the consultant's situation. It is also important to pay attention to cards that amplify or emphasize certain aspects or themes within the reading. These combinations can reveal hidden connections and provide a fuller perspective on the situation at hand.

    Narrative and stories

The tarot is like a visual storybook that invites you to use your imagination and storytelling skills. Each letter is like a panel in an epic tale. When interpreting the cards, consider how they are related and how they can be put together to create a cohesive narrative. Visualize the cards as characters, plot points, or themes in the story unfolding before you. Through the narrative, you will be able to capture and convey the essence of the client's situation, providing a richer and more contextualized understanding. Use your creativity and storytelling skills to weave together the meanings of the cards, creating a story that resonates with both the client and yourself.

    Numerology and elemental associations

In addition to visual symbols, tarot cards are also associated with numerology and the elements (fire, water, air, earth). Numerology refers to the study of numbers and their symbolic meanings. Look at the number present on each card and consider its numerological meaning. For example, the number three can represent creativity and expression, while the number nine can symbolize completion or achievement. Also, each tarot suit is associated with a specific element. Fire represents passion and energy, water symbolizes emotions and intuition, air relates to intellect and communication, and earth represents stability and materiality. By paying attention to these numerology and elemental associations, you can gain a deeper understanding of the cards and their messages.

    tarot as a mirror

Tarot readings often reflect the querent's energy, emotions, and experiences. The tarot acts like a mirror, allowing people to gain clarity, self-reflection, and guidance on their personal journey. As you explore the cards, you may find aspects of yourself or the client reflected in the images and messages in the cards. It can reveal both the positive aspects and the challenges that arise in the querent's life. Through tarot, the opportunity is offered to closely examine current circumstances, recurring patterns, and underlying dynamics in one's life. By being aware of these reflexes, more informed decisions can be made and positive changes can be implemented.

    Tarot as an empowerment tool

Tarot readings are meant to empower people rather than predict their future. The tarot provides guidance, support, and encouragement to make informed decisions, embrace personal growth, and navigate life's challenges with confidence. Through the tarot, clients are invited to explore their own inner power and take responsibility for their lives. The cards do not dictate a fixed destination, but offer perspectives and options that allow individuals to make conscious decisions aligned with their own path. By using the tarot as an empowerment tool, the readings can become a catalyst for personal growth, confidence, and self-affirmation.
